DAVID KENNEDY is Manley O. Hudson Professor of Law and Faculty Director of the
Institute for Global Law and Policy at Harvard Law School where he teaches
international law, international economic policy, legal theory, law and development and
European law. He joined the Harvard Law faculty in 1981 and holds a Ph.D. from the
Fletcher School at Tufts University and a J.D. from Harvard. He is the author of
numerous articles and books on international law and global governance. His research
uses interdisciplinary materials from sociology and social theory, economics and history
to explore issues of global governance, development policy and the nature of professional
expertise.
As a practicing lawyer and consultant, Professor Kennedy has worked on numerous
international projects, both commercial and public, including work with
PricewaterhouseCoopers, the United Nations, the Commission of the European Union,
the Qatar Foundation and Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen and Hamilton in Brussels. A member of
the U.S. Council on Foreign Relations, he is past Chair and Member of the World
Economic Forum’s Global Advisory Council on Global Governance, and current serves
on the Supervisory Board of the Albanian Investment Corporation.
At Harvard, he served as Chair of the Graduate Committee and Faculty Director of
International Legal Studies. He founded the Institute for Global Law and Policy in 2009
and has served continuously as its Faculty Director. He has advised a number of
educational institutions on their academic programs and lectured as a Visiting Professor
at numerous universities across the world. In 2008-2009, he served as Vice President for
International Affairs, University Professor of Law and David and Marianna Fisher
University Professor of International Relations at Brown University.
Antony Page, Dean & FIU Foundation Professor of Law, earned his J.D. with distinction from
Stanford Law School, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif. He also holds an M.B.A.
from Simon Fraser University and a B. Comm from McGill University. Following law school,
he clerked for Judge Hupp at the U.S. District Court, Central District of California, and Judge
Alarcon, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. His international professional experience
includes private practice in the London and Los Angeles offices of New York-based law firm
Sullivan & Cromwell, and as a diplomat in the Canadian Foreign Service, serving in Thailand,
Laos, and Myanmar. Before joining FIU Law in 2018, he was the Vice Dean and a Professor of
Law at the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.
As an educator and leader, Dean Page has been entrepreneurial and innovative in many areas.
As co-principal investigator, he created a Pathway to the Law program intended to increase
minority representation and success at law schools and in the legal profession, supported by a
$250,000 grant from the American Bar Association. He has developed and expanded law school
and interdisciplinary programs, including new degrees, joint degrees, certificates, and badges,
and negotiated their passage through committee, faculty, university, and state levels of approval.
Other projects include an award-winning Wellbeing program; a state-funded Environment, Law
and Economics initiative; an Academic & Bar Success Center; a Dean’s Leadership Council; and
an Agricultural Law Program.
Dean Page is an expert in contract and corporate law and has taught a wide range of courses
including Contracts, Corporations, Sales, Closely Held Businesses, Mergers & Acquisitions,
International Law, and International Securities Regulation. His scholarly works have been
published in high-impact journals such as the Michigan Law Review, Emory Law
Journal, Georgia Law Review, Stanford Social Innovation Review, and Boston University Law
Review, and have been cited by more than twenty courts, including eight state supreme courts
and the United States Supreme Court. The Connecticut Supreme Court in State v. Holmes
described one of his publications as a “landmark article.” He has also received numerous
teaching and service awards.
