WHAT IS AN INVENTION?

An idea developed by the inventor results in a solution to a specific problem in technology.

WHAT ARE THE CONDITIONS TO OBTAIN A PATENT?

• The invention must be new.
• It must include an innovative move.
• It must be industrially applicable.
• The exploitation of the invention must not be contrary to Islamic law, harmful to human, animal, or plant health, or the environment.

HOW LONG IS A PATENT PROTECTED?

The term of patent protection is twenty years from the date of filing the application.

WHAT TOPICS ARE NOT CONSIDERED INVENTIONS?

• Discoveries, scientific theories, and mathematical methods.
• Schemes, rules and methods for running business, purely practicing mental activities, or playing a game.
• Plants, animals, and processes - which are mostly biological - used for producing plants or animals with the exception of microorganisms, abiotic processes, and microbiological processes.
• Methods employed for treating the human or animal body surgically or therapeutically, and disease diagnose methods applied to the human or animal body, with the exception of products that are used in any of these methods.
• This includes computer software and any other works included in literary works.

When applying for protection applications, it is necessary to ensure that the main requirements are completed before proceeding with the electronic registration, please download the following files and fill them out: (You must fill out the same attached files as they contain a special format)

• Summary: please describe the invention in sufficient detail.
• Full Description:
  1. If illustration drawings are available, please fill the following document: Specifications Form with drawings
  2. If illustration drawings are not available, please fill the following document: Specifications Form without drawings
• Claims: please mention all the elements that must be protected by the registration of patent, this should include -but not limited-: operation process, formulas, product design, ...etc.

Notes:
- The dimensions of the image must be between 40mm and 165mm for width as a maximum, and between a minimum of 40mm and a maximum of 252mm for height (624*953 pixels).
- The allowed file types are (PNG, JPG, JPEG, BMP, GIF).
