Research Fellow
Lab Leader
The Research Fellow program at PSU is an important recognition of the collaborative efforts of researchers who have established a mutual relationship with the PSU lab. It is crucial that the program is used appropriately and ethically to ensure that it continues to benefit the research community.
A PSU Research Fellow is a researcher affiliated with another University and works officially in collaborating in producing research publications with Prince Sultan University, remotely.
The research fellow is selected by a lab leader based on the requirement of the lab and the mutual interest to collaborate. The research fellow must have a good publication record and has high potential to provide an added value with this collaboration.
The research interest of the candidate must be compatible with that of the research lab with whom it will be affiliated.
The Research Fellow could be a faculty member (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor) or a researcher (e.g. Postdoc, Senior Researcher, …) affiliated with another University.
If the candidate satisfies the criteria above, the lab leader should submit a recommendation letter for recruitment of the research fellow along with his CV.
The recommendation letter should provide clear justification for the need for the recruitment of the candidate as a research fellow. In addition, the letter should specify the expected duration of the contract.
The recommendation letter should be approved by the dean of the college. The dean of the college should submit a request letter through RIC to the President’s office for approval.
Once the recruitment is approved by RIC, and then by the President’s office, the contract is signed with the candidate.
The Research Fellow will be paid according to the PSU bylaws of publications incentives and publications fees, with the following terms:
The candidate is considered as a member of the lab with whom he is affiliated.
The max duration of the contract is until Dec 31, 2022.
The candidate must make sure that being a PSU research fellow does not conflict with his contract at his University and that he is legally allowed to join such the PSU research fellow program.
The research fellow program does not imply in any means that the research fellow is a PSU employee, but rather a remote collaborator.
